It is our pleasure to inform you that SANS 1520-2:2008   Flexible electric trailing cables for use in mines Part 2: High-voltage (3,8/6,6 kV to 19/33 kV) cables  was approved by the SABS Standards Approvals Committee and published on 29-10-2008; and it is now available at SABS Standards Sales Department.

Engineers need to act now

The Minister for the Built Environment has published draft policy document Notice 337 of 2008 indicating that ECSA would be converted into a professional board that will report to the South African Council for Built Environment (SACBE) who in turn will report to the Minister for the Built Environment.  Click here for more information.

SAFA and ECSA Registration

SAFA is registered as a voluntary association with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). In terms of this registration, ECSA registered professionals may earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points when participating in registered SAFA activities. Two relevant documents are available from this site. The ECSA "Policy on Continuing Professional Development" (806 kb) may be viewed by clicking on the link, or downloaded by right clicking and selecting "save as". The "SAFA CPD Manual" (439 kb) may be viewed and downloaded in a similar manner.
