SAFA’s stars shine at this year’s symposium

There were nothing but compliments for the way in which the Annual SAFA
Symposium and Awards Dinner went off recently.

Held over a period of 2 days at the Cape Town International Convention Centre,
the event boasted an attendance of 80 delegates.

The Awards Dinner was an event of “Hollywood” proportions with guests being
entertained by some of South Africa’s local celebrities including Good Hope FM
radio jock, Aiden Thomas as well as local band, Phase 4.

The Symposium on the 5th of August saw some well informed speakers grace
the stage and they were well received by the delegates. These guest speakers
included Dr Johannes Auret, Mel Wilman, Des Smith, Roelof Viljoen, Olof Bekker,
Pieter Hendrik Coetzee, Lizette van Wyk, Andre Kneisel and Koos Coetzee.

The highlight of the SAFA event had to have been the announcement of the
award winners. Here are the respective winners:

From Left to Right: Franz Lackinger (winner of the most innovative product award);
KV Dahya (winner of the special achievement award); Dr Johannes Auret (member
of the year based on current contributions award winner); Eldon Kruger (winner of
the prestigious President’s award) and Erik Stromvig (Young achiever of the year
award winner). Absent: Rowan Humphreys (winner of the special achievement award).

Photographs and presentations can be viewed on the SAFA website.
